A GPS bike computer is intended for people who would like to record detailed route information in addition to the ride data. It should be noted that the term GPS does not mean the same as bike navigation.

All GPS models from SIGMA SPORT have navigation functions but in different forms. For example, some ROX models are purely for track navigation. This means that a track is first created in the DATA CENTER and then transmitted to the bike computer, after which it can be shown on the display. The ROX 12.0 SPORT, which is the top model, is not only a reliable training partner but is also a professional when it comes to bike gps. With a detailed calendar display and destination input function, it offers multiple routing options. In contrast, the PURE GPS, which is the entry-level model, has a simple compass navigation with a direction indicator. All the most recent bike computers with GPS are compatible with the SIGMA LINK app, which can be used to make settings or read out tour data.

The advantage of a GPS bike computer is that it can be mounted very quickly. In general, it is not necessary to attach a speed transmitter as the current speed and distance are detected by means of the GPS system. For an even more precise acquisition of data, an additional sensor can be used. For attachment of the GPS bike computer to the handlebar, there are two different positions.

Positioning directly on the handlebar or positioning in front of the handlebar by means of an out front mount (BUTLER III), In the case of the ROX 12.0, both types of holder are included in the scope of supply. For the other models, the BUTLER III is available as an optional accessory.

Most classical SIGMA cycle computers are available as a wireless version or a wired version. Users of the wireless models appreciate the fact that, without cable, they are easier to mount. When the transmitter is attached, it is important that it is parallel to the front wheel or points straight ahead in the direction of travel and that the bike computer and transmitter are attached on the same side of the bike in order to ensure optimum wireless transmission. From the simple bike computer with the five most important functions to the fully-fledged BC 23.16 cycling computer with cadence and heart rate measurement, SIGMA SPORT has the right bike speedometer for every requirement.

Cyclists who place great value on the appearance of their bike usually opt in favour of the wireless version. They are less conspicuous on the bike and many cyclists feel irritated by the cable that is wrapped around the fork and, in some cases, additionally secured with adhesive tape. There are two ways of attaching the bike computer: it can be attached directly to the handlebar or mounted in front of the handlebar by means of the BUTLER III TOPLINE holder.

In the time of analogue data transmission, the first bike computer was connected to the cadence sensor by means of a cable. Even today, many recreational cyclists still prefer this classical type. It is not as easy to mount but has a very low battery consumption. It is therefore possible to cycle for many years with a maintenance-free bike computer. Due to the direct cable connection to the transmitter, interference in the transmission of data due to external influences is practically ruled out.

The SIGMA product range includes high-quality wired bike computers in different price classes. The BC 5.16 is the smallest and simplest model. Wired bike computers are usually less expensive than wireless bike speedometers. In the long term as well, wired versions are less expensive as there is no need to change a transmitter battery.
