| Three days of terrific action and great success |
 |
The 17th Sympatex BIKE Festival Garda Trentino powered by Nissan 2010 came to an end at the weekend.
The organisers recorded 20,000 visitors and over 2,000 marathon riders on the line-up at
the legendary start to the mountain bike season.
The Sympatex BIKE Festival Garda Trentino powered by Nissan at Lake Garda is the place where all the highlights, new products, trends and developments of current and outlandish brands and products from the mountain bike scene are presented.
The German specialist for bike computers, bike lighting and heart rate monitors - SIGMA SPORT® also contributed to the very good atmosphere on the site.
Visitors and interested passers-by were given excellent professional advice and competent service all about bike accessories for three days on the stand of the Neustadt-based company.
On Saturday the teams supported by SIGMA SPORT® also started in the variety of races and categories.
And they had plenty of success.
The men and women riders were once again able to choose between three different distances from 53 to 105 kilometres and ascents totalling 1,659 to 3,561 metres.
In the Ronda Piccola for men, Daniel Geismayr from the Vaude Simplon team was the first to make his mark.
The Austrian chose the 53.2 kilometre course Ronda Piccola with a total ascent of 1,659 metres and won it sensationally with the fastest ever time over this distance.
Also at the start of the Ronda Piccola was the German rider Alexa Hüni from the Vaude Simplon team.
With start number 48 she finished 32 seconds behind the winner to take a jubilant second place.
Carsten Bresser from the CRAFT-ROCKY MOUNTAIN team secured victory in the Ronda Extrema master category.
Bresser outclassed his fellow riders on the 105.3 kilometre course with a total ascent of 3,561 metres and mercilessly left the competition trailing.
At the finish line he had a phenomenal lead of over 20 minutes. His team colleague, Pia Sundstedt, was not to be outdone by this impressive result.
On the contrary.
Pia went one better and took first in the women's category with a lead of over 23 minutes.
Volker Ordowski, also from the CRAFT-ROCKY MOUNTAIN team, took third place in the Ronda Grande men's category after 86.6 kilometres.
The BULLS team also lined up in the Ronda Extrema and finished with three places in the top ten.
In the demanding opening race of the Rocky Mountain BIKE marathon series, Thomas Dietsch secured 7th place, Tim Böhme 8th and Stefan Sahm 9th place.
SIGMA SPORT® congratulates all the riders on these impressive results and wishes them every success for the new season.
Mountain bike fans who were not able to make it to Italy can marvel at the mountain bike professionals on 12th June in Willingen and ask the guys and girls from SIGMA SPORT® all about bike computers, bike lighting and heart rate monitors. |
