Pure mountain biking pleasure at the
18th Garda Trentino BIKE festival |
|
The Garda Trentino BIKE festival returned for the 18th time this year and once again enticed innumer-
able mountain bike fans of all ages and from all over Europe to Lake Garda in Italy. Visitors were drawn by not only the three-day festival with its excellent program of events but also the extraordinarily beautiful landscape.
The region around Lake Garda is one of Europe’s most diverse and beautiful mountain bike regions and is often described as the mountain biker’s El Dorado.
In line with its motto ‘SIGMA SPORT can be found wherever SIGMA products are used’, the Neustadt-
based company was represented at the event by its ‘eventmobile’ and expert employees. Visitors not only had the chance to win a broad range of prizes on the SIGMA wheel of fortune but also to gain comprehensive information about the product range. The bike lighting and the complete bike computer and heart rate/running computer ranges were particularly popular.
On the Saturday, SIGMA sales employee James Rutherford and product manager for SIGMA lighting Alexej Schulz also took part in the ‘Rocky Mountain BIKE Marathon powered by Vaude’ – the highlight of the festival. Some 2,200 mountain bike enthusiasts were once again able to choose between four different distances ranging from 24 (Ronda Facile) to 105 (Ronda Extrema) kilometers and altitudes of 600 to 3,561 meters. Carsten Bresser and Pia Sundstedt, the riders of the CRAFT ROCKY MOUNTAIN team supported by SIGMA SPORT, achieved particularly impressive results. The Finn won the women’s Ronda Extrema, finishing almost four minutes ahead of her nearest rival. Carsten Bresser prevailed in the E-Master Ronda Extrema Master Man category and secured victory after starting in 11th place.
The ‘Open Night presented by Trentino’ on the Saturday night once again created a fun and relaxed atmosphere among the exhibitors and festival visitors. The latest fashion trends for the mountain biking community were also presented on the Saturday evening in the ‘Symaptex Fashion Show’.
SIGMA SPORT congratulates the successful riders and is already looking forward to advising and supporting the participants and visitors at the Willingen BIKE festival (06.11 - 06.13.11). |
